Dr Tim Ross

Tim is the Medical Services Director for Bupa Aged Care Australia and Bupa New Zealand. His four years with Bupa include this role and as a National Medical Director across all Bupa businesses prior to that. Having chalked up 20 years in general practice, he has just cut the cord from direct patient-facing work.

Tim graduated from Monash University in 1995 and went on to gain his FRACGP in 2000. His career has involved general practice in urban, rural and regional locations, as well as overseas in the U.K. He has spent time working for the RACGP training program and in the Department of General Practice at the University of Melbourne, bringing this back to his practice as a GP supervisor and teaching medical students. He was the tournament doctor at the Kooyong Classic tennis tournament for 11 events.

Representative work has included the General Practice Registrars Association committee, Clinical Council of the Eastern Melbourne PHN, and Board positions with AMA Victoria and AMA Federal, the Greater South Eastern Division of General Practice, and RACGP Victoria Faculty.

Clinically, the 3 Ps have always interested him: prevention, paediatrics and procedures. With his work at Bupa, he has moved to a fourth: populations, now focusing on caring for our ageing population.

In his spare time, he is always planning his next trip as a travel junkie, while trying to stay fit in his middle age by taking on triathlons and keeping up with an active family.
