Dr Amiria Lynch

Amiria is a paediatric surgeon, working at Monash Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.  She completed her undergraduate degree at University of Otago, and completed her FRACS in 2011 having worked in many sites in New Zealand and Australia during her training.  Amiria did a further fellowship in paediatric colorectal disorders in Leeds, United Kingdom and spent time at the Colorectal Centre for Children in Cincinnati in 2012.

Amiria is passionate about surgical education, and has completed a Graduate Certificate in Simulation in 2016, which changed her whole approach to teaching.  She has now caught the higher education bug and is midway through a Masters of Surgical Education.  Her particular educational focus is on teaching the non-technical skills required by surgeons, and hopes to play a role in the change in surgical culture to make it more suitable and accepting of all.

But her most satisfying and challenging role is as a mum to three under 5, and finding the art of balance with a two surgeon family!
